A one-person shop, betting on people building something real

I bet on you.

You want to do your craft — acupuncture, art, chiropractic, a great little shop. You don't want to wrestle with accounting, contracts, licensing, compliance, and software. That's my favorite part. I partner with you to take the business pain off your plate so you can focus on what you actually care about.

No money up front. No ownership stake. I get paid back as your business grows.

The model

How a partnership works

Starting and growing a business is hard, and most people get stuck because they try to cheap out on the tough stuff — accountants, lawyers, marketing, the right systems. That's exactly where things turn into a mess. My model is built so you never have to make that trade-off.

  1. 1

We find the problems worth solving

Many I already know you have — or will. I'll tell you what's important and why, and you get to choose what we tackle. Clear outcome, who needs to be involved, what I'll do, and what you'll do.

  2. 2

You only pay the experts who must be paid now

Where you need a lawyer or accountant, I bring people I trust who move fast. I can draft your legal and operational documents with AI, then have a lawyer review and red-line them — saving you serious money. You pay those outside experts directly.

  3. 3

My work is on a success-based plan

I price each piece of work and put it in a simple agreement — but you don't owe me up front. We set up a payback plan tied to where your business is and the new revenue the work unlocks, usually as you're able to add capacity or employees. I'm not here to take your livelihood.

  4. 4

We keep going until you're happy

As your business grows, you pay back what we agreed, and we tackle the next thing — or we stop. When you say "I don't want to change my business anymore," we're done. Simple as that.

No money up front

You don't need a pile of cash to get the business side done right.

No equity, ever

I don't want to own your business. It's yours — I'm just your partner on the hard parts.

Skin in the game

I only win when you do, so I only take on work I'm confident will help you grow.

What I do

Two ways to work together

Small & medium business — start, run & grow

For owners who want to do their craft, not become business experts. I get you set up and running from day one, then help you scale only as far as you want to.

  • Business formation, systems & operations setup
  • Accounting, bookkeeping & financial systems (with trusted partners)
  • Licensing & compliance programs — including for healthcare providers
  • Legal & operational documents drafted, then lawyer-reviewed
  • Websites, mobile apps & martech built for your business
  • Training programs and the playbooks to run them

Pricing: success-based — no money up front, no equity. See the model →

Retail technology consulting

For grocery, convenience and other retail. Independent, vendor-neutral advice from eight years inside the industry — so you choose the right technology with eyes open.

  • Evaluate platforms — what they do, their real strengths & weaknesses
  • How heavily each vendor is investing, and whether they fit your business
  • Mobile apps, websites, loyalty, martech & advertising strategy
  • From single-store independents to chains of thousands of locations
  • A clear written recommendation you can act on
  • Implementation help, or the right people to do it

Pricing: simple flat hourly rate. (I don't consult on platforms where I'd have a conflict of interest.)

Who you're working with

Ben Stull

I've started, built, scaled, and sold businesses, and spent nearly a decade inside a billion-dollar technology company — at the smallest scale and the largest. I love building things and writing software, and I'm genuinely good at the business machinery most founders dread. That combination is what I bring to your business.

Ben Stull Business Education and Technology Services LLC exists to put that experience to work for people who'd rather be doing their craft — without handing over cash they don't have or a piece of the company they built.

Hirelytics

Co-founder · 2014–2018 · Bootstrapped, then acquired

Co-founded with my good friend Sean Murphy and bootstrapped a recruiting-analytics platform for enterprises — customers included Weyerhaeuser and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. We pulled data from applicant-tracking systems into a warehouse and gave HR clear recommendations to hire faster and better, including on diversity. The insight: strong brands don't lose great candidates because they can't attract them — they lose them because they can't move fast enough to make an offer. We ran it for almost four years and exited to our biggest customer, Weyerhaeuser.

Swiftly Systems

First full-time engineer → Sales Engineering · 8 years · $1B+ valuation

The first full-time engineer beyond the founders. I built the platform from the ground up, then moved into sales engineering — working directly with retailers to define, propose, negotiate, and implement solutions across mobile apps, websites, martech and advertising, then driving those needs back into the product. I reported to the COO, CTO, and CEO at different points. We partnered with the wholesaler UNFI and I implemented solutions for their customers, plus rollouts like Family Dollar (8,000 stores) and Circle K.

Founder · Today

Now I partner one-on-one with business owners — solo practitioners, small shops, and retailers — to take the business pain off their plate and bet on the ones I'm confident will succeed.

“I don't expect a pile of cash up front, and I don't want a piece of your company. I want to help your dream come true — and make operating in this world a lot less painful. That's the bet.”

— Ben Stull
